Elizabeth Sue Barnes is a junior at the University School of Jackson who is deeply engaged in her school and community. She is a defensive specialist for USJ’s JV Volleyball team, a member of the JV Tennis team, and participates in a wide range of organizations, including Jackson Juniorettes, French Club, Astronomy Club, Future Medical Professionals, Home Economics, FCA, Bruins Babysitting Bank, Multicultural Club, and the USJ Book Club, which she founded and now leads as President. She also serves as Vice President of the National Art Honor Society and Chaplain of the ASL Club. Her leadership roles reflect her initiative, creativity, and commitment to service.
Elizabeth Sue is exploring several career interests, including optometry, teaching, dermatology, and cosmetology. These paths highlight both her academic curiosity and her caring nature, as she hopes to combine her talents with service to others.
The most inspiring person in her life is her mom, who she looks to daily for advice and encouragement. She also credits Mr. Suber, her school’s Upper School Director, as a significant influence. His weekly conversations with her about books and interests, along with his constant positivity, left a lasting impact on her and the school community.
Describing herself as caring, honest, and artistic, Elizabeth Sue values the strong sense of community and love that Jackson fosters. She appreciates how local churches and volunteer initiatives step up to meet needs, especially by feeding and serving the community. She also sees her role as both a behind-the-scenes coordinator and idea creator, as well as a team member who contributes to specific tasks that move projects forward.
After high school, she plans to attend college full time, possibly working part time, as she continues to pursue her career goals and passions. With her leadership, compassion, and artistic spirit, Elizabeth Sue is already shaping her school and community—and has an inspiring future ahead.
“I love exploring different ways I can help others.”
