Five Years of Leadership
2025 - 2026
Eager to Grow: Jackson Grown’s 5th class demonstrated remarkable growth throughout the year. Fellows stretched themselves to meet challenges, deepening their understanding of a complex world even in difficult times. They nurtured ideas into thoughtful proposals for improving the situations they encountered, showing not only courage but also a willingness to evolve. This year also marked an important step in the program’s own growth, as Jackson Grown welcomed two private schools into its community. The journeys of learning, the examples set, and the messages delivered by this class represent lasting contributions that will continue to help the community grow.
2024 - 2025
Strength to Build: Getting to the starting line is in no way easy. Neither however, is gathering and sustaining the energy to run the race. The 4th class of the Jackson Grown Leader Fellowship has demonstrated incredible energy to run hard. The 2024-2025 cohort has shown inspiring curiosity and has demonstrated strong initiative to bring their ideas forward to serve Jackson-Madison County.
2023 - 2024
Courage to Launch: Jackson Grown’s 3rd class demonstrated incredible skill throughout the year. Fellows dug deeply into a complex world even in times that were not easy. They offered proposals for how to launch ideas to improve situations they encountered and demonstrated tremendous courage. The examples they set and messages they delivered will remain valuable contributions to the community.
2022-2023
Willingness to Understand: It takes a lot to listen. It’s even harder to really put oneself in the shoes of another. Under the year’s them of “Understanding Community” the 2023 - 2024 cohort dived deep into complex topics ranging from mental health and drug use to homelessness, abuse and the need to invest in public spaces. Fellows demonstrated exceptional maturity and depth of thought.
2021-2022
Motivation to try: The inaugural cohort was a brave one. Jackson Grown’s first nine students had the courage to help the program discover itself. The 2021 - 2022 Fellows gave as much as they were given. True leaders emerged. Alumni have become Board Members of multi-million dollar non-profit organizations and have served for multiple years as mentors in Jackson Grown.
“The Jackson Grown Leader Fellowship has demonstrated the power of a community's willingness to engage young leaders. It shows what can be done when we listen, learn and ultimately move together in ways that offer solutions to our collective challenges.”
