Trey Cunningham

Mentor, Finance Counselor - Haywood Co. Greater Jackson Financial Empowerment Center, United Way West Tennessee

TTrey S. Cunningham serves as a Financial Empowerment Counselor with United Way of West Tennessee, where he supports individuals and families across Haywood, Crockett, and Hardeman counties. Through his work with the Financial Empowerment Center (FEC), he delivers one-on-one counseling, leads community workshops, and engages in targeted outreach to help people navigate real-life challenges and build long-term financial stability.

Trey’s professional background includes experience in logistics operations at Total Quality Logistics (TQL) and public service as a legislative intern in the 113th General Assembly of the Tennessee State Senate. He has been deeply involved in advocacy and student leadership, having served as Middle Tennessee Vice President for the NAACP Youth & College Division and as President/Reorganizing Chairman of the NAACP Chapter at Tennessee State University. While at TSU, he also contributed as a member of the University President’s Action Plan Committee on Communications and served as the Student Government Association’s Representative-at-Large to the Office of Financial Aid. His work has consistently focused on empowering young leaders, promoting civic engagement, and advancing community-based solutions.

A proud native of Brownsville, Tennessee, Trey earned his degree in Healthcare Administration and Planning from Tennessee State University. As a 2025–2026 mentor with the Jackson Grown Mentorship Program, he is honored to walk alongside young people—offering guidance, encouragement, and practical support as they prepare to lead in their own communities.
