Yvette Nesbitt

Mentor, District Support Coordinator for McKinney Vento

Yvette Nesbitt is a passionate educator, advocate, and organizer committed to leveling the playing field for students and families experiencing homelessness. As the District Support Coordinator for McKinney Vento, she ensures that the rights of McKinney-Vento-eligible students are protected and upheld, providing access to academic support, transportation, housing referrals, and a sense of stability during the most uncertain times in a child’s life.

With over 20 years of experience in education, missions and social services, Yvette brings a holistic, heart-centered approach to her work—fusing compliance with compassion. She actively collaborates with school leaders, social workers, local agencies, and faith-based organizations to create systems that serve not just the student, but the whole family. Her leadership is rooted in empathy, driven by data, and shaped by lived experience.

Whether she’s leading policy discussions, mentoring future educators, Yvette shows up with a bold sense of purpose and an unwavering belief in what’s possible when communities care deeply and act collectively.

Above all, she is a proud wife and mother, faith-filled servant leader, and a firm believer that no child’s potential should be limited by their circumstances. For Yvette, this work is not just a job—it’s a calling.

“I believe in meeting people where they are, respecting the reality of their now, and empowering them to move boldly into their next.  For me, mentorship is about creating space for transformation—walking beside people until they can stand in their purpose with confidence and clarity.”
